The Proform 10.0 ZE is new for 2010 and like all Proform elliptical trainers is aimed squarely at the budget market.
To begin with, the 10.0 ZE gives you a choice of 3 stride lengths, 13”, 15” or 18”. This fine for most people but could be somewhat limiting if you are much over 6 feet. Maximum user weight is limited to 275lbs.
The unit folds up in between use, reducing overall length by nearly 3’, a major benefit if you have limited space or want to move out of sight in between use. Large foot pedals allow you to position your feet for maximum comfort and stability.
Upper body handlebars provide for a full body workout and the handle bars contain sensors that allow you to track your heart rate.
You monitor your workout through a standard LCD display where you can choose from 8 workouts and 12 resistance levels. The Proform 10.0 ZE is also iFit card compatible. Each iFit card is a unique training program, designed by professional exercise instructor who also provides advice and encouragement. This can make a real difference if motivation to exercise is a bit lagging.
The console has a docking station for your MP3 player or Ipod. With music playing through a speaker, there are no earbud cords to tangle with. There is also an adjustable fan to help you stay cool and a water bottle holder to help you stay hydrated.
Warranty is average, lifetime on the frame and 1 year on parts and labor.
The Proform 10.0 ZE comes with a lot of extras for an elliptical trainer that sells for around $600. With Proform including free curbside shipping is offers very good value, but is definitely intended for regular home use rather than heavy commercial use. A strong choice for a first elliptical, and regular rather than constant use.
