Proform has a good reputation for selling solid elliptical trainers at very affordable prices, with all their models selling for under $1,000 at least for now. The 1050E is a new model, recently launched for 2010.
The 1050E gives you a choice of stride length of 19” to 21”, making is suitable for users of all height, maybe excepting NBA centers.
User weight is a maximum of 325lbs, again should not present a problem for the great majority of users. Foot pedals are cushioned for optimum comfort, important if you train for long periods at a time.
The Proform 1050E has incline adjustment, rarely found on elliptical trainers in this price range.
You burn more calories with the steeper the incline of the elliptical motion, with extra focus on calves and even your abs, while a shallower incline will focus more on your glutes and abs.
The controls for changing the incline and resistance levels are housed at your finger tips in the handlebars which also help provide an upper body workout. The sensors for your heart rate are located in separate handlebars.
The console contains a backlit, high resolution display that is easy to read, and gives data on speed, time, distance, pulse and calories burned.
You can choose from 24 different workouts, incl. 2 for burning calories and 2 custom workouts designed by you, as well as 20 resistance levels.
The Proform 1050E is capable of accepting iFit cards. Each card is a unique workout designed by an exercise professional, who even helps talk you through the session.
iFit cards, which you need to purchase separately are available in different categories, such as weight loss, wellness and different performance categories.
The console also contains speakers and a docking station for your MP3 or iPod, so you can avoid getting tangles up in your headphone cord.
The warranty on the Proform 1050E is industry average, lifetime on the frame and 1 year on parts and labor.
